Plant Bernburg

The mine Bernburg has existed for more than 100 years and lies in a region, which has been defined by mining since the Middle Ages and where salt production also looks back on a long tradition.

The mine fields of the Bernburg plant cover an area of around 40 square kilometres. The miners extract a rock salt which is designated as crystal salt due to its pure white colour and its coarse crystalline structure. Its degree of purity is 99 percent of sodium chloride (NaCl) on average. The best storage lots are even 99.8 percent NaCl.

After a first processing stage below ground the coarsely broken salt is transported above ground and there runs through various grinding and sieving stages. These enable efficient manufacture of different grain sizes, so that customer wishes can be fulfilled quickly and flexibly.
