Salt Makes A Simple, But Effective Body Scrub

In summer when we are wearing sandals, slippers, sabots etc., calloused feet are considered particularly annoying and unpleasant. But in summer of all times, our often bare feet - with our without shoes - are particularly strained, which may even accelerate the development of calluses.

A homemade foot scrub can help to exfoliate and renew the skin. The ingredients are quite simple and available in every kitchen: salt and olive oil.

How to make the scrub:

Stir some coarse salt with a bit of olive oil in a small bowl until the mixture is viscous and mushy enough to be easily applied. If no coarse salt is available, a standard fine table salt quality will also do, only slightly reducing the scrubbing effect.

Gently rub the salt-oil-mixture into the skin and massage particularly soles, ankles and heels to stimulate circulation and remove dead skin and calluses. The oil nourishes the skin and helps to make it even softer. Rinse well.

Variation 1: If you want to give your skin a special treat, you may use some almond oil, apricot seed oil or another particularly rich skin oil instead of olive oil. These oils do not only come with a more pleasant scent, but they have an even more smoothing and softening effect on your skin.

Variation 2: Instead of olive oil, it is also possible to use milk or cream, depending on your personal preferences.

By the way: The application of these scrubs is not limited to feet or women's skin only.
