esco de-icing salt is particularly efficient and economical when applied as prewetted salt. In prewetted salt, 70% (by weight) crystalline or dry de-icing salt is wetted with 30% (by weight) brine on the spreader of the gritter lorry in order to achieve an improved adherence of the salt to the road surface. The result is a better, more consistent spreading and, thus, a faster and more persistent thaw effect.
