esco Production Site Borth running the 12th "Weseler Dreiwiesellauf"
On 8th June, 2008 nine employees of the German esco production site Borth, Rheinberg participated in the annual relay race in the German town Wesel.
In total 1,168 runners completed the 7.5 kilometer distance through the picturesque landscape around the little lake called "Auesee", with approximately 2,500 spectators watching and cheering. The men's relays of esco Borth took places 24 (esco 2), 81 (esco 3) and 101 (esco 1) out of 146.
"What is special about the 'Weseler Dreiwiesellauf' is the relaxed, almost familiar atmosphere. Of course many runners have been preparing and practising for the relay. But what is more important is to take part and enjoy the fun together," explains Thomas Clewe of the Borth works council, who encouraged and also photographed his colleagues. "The variety of the relay teams is also quite spectacular, for example the ones running in fancy dresses, such as angels or the Blues Brothers."
In 2007, the Borth colleagues had run in the race for the first time. In 2009 they intend to participate again.
Information about the race's title: the German word "Dreiwiesellauf" means race of the three weasels.
