esco puts hot meals on the table at Bothfeld school

In collaboration with the Hanover-based "Aktion Sonnenstrahl" (Sunshine Campaign), esco is providing hot meals for two years at the "Workshop School" in the city's Bothfeld district. Cafeteria Minestrone opened its doors on 11 October.

In the words of company director Reinhard Dust, "esco is a company located in the Hanover region and it offers people there high-quality jobs and training opportunities. Yet many young people do not even reach the level required to take up a training post because the right environment is lacking. The 'Aktion Sonnenstrahl' project makes a real contribution to establishing equality of opportunity, which is something we support wholeheartedly."

80 children and teenagers attend the school in Bothfeld. There they can, for example, study for a secondary school certificate if they did not manage to achieve it at other schools. The name “ Workshop School” sums up the establishment's central purpose, namely to enable young people to acquire the necessary knowledge primarily through practical work. Most of the students come from socially deprived families.

The Workshop School also offers a special vocational training year, tailored to preparing youngsters for working life. These students cook the meals, not only for serving in the Cafeteria Minestrone, but also for the children in the integrated daycare facility.

esco's collaboration with the "Aktion Sonnenstrahl" campaign is scheduled to continue for two years. esco is financing the purchase of food for the school to the tune of € 4,000 after favourable terms have been arranged with local supermarkets.
